The National Lottery Charities Board website has been designed with optimum accessibility in mind for users for users with all kinds of visual and hearing impairments. We have aimed to conform to the three priorities for web content accessibility set out by the World Wide Web Consortium.
From the front page of the site at www.nlcb.org.uk, you are presented with the choice of a text only site or an enhanced site. Both sites contain identical content presented in different ways.
The text only site is preferable for uses of software such as a text-to-speech browsers and braille readers, those with visual impairments and early versions of the Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. It contains features identical to the enhanced site such as a Welsh-English binlingual mechanism, a searchable database of awards/press releases and a facility to submit questions to the NLCB.
The enhanced site is preferable for users who have no special software requirements and are using browsers of Netscape 2.0/Internet Explorer 3.0 and above. This site also contains a number of images which you may choose to turn of if you wish by changing the settings of your browser.
The standard body and headline text on this site can be also be enlarged by changing the settings of your browser.
Entering either version of the site, the user will immediately notice several menu options across the top and left sides of the browser window. This allow navigation to different sections of the site. The Welsh-English bilingual mechanism can be activited at any time by selecting the option "English" or "Cymraeg", to the left of the window. Please note that certain content on the Charities Board website will not be available in Welsh; for example, content particular to non-Welsh regions.
