Charities Board hosts Lottery Distributors Open Forum: Who distributes which grant?

The first joint open forum of its kind, coordinated by Lottery Distributors in Wales, was hosted by the National Lottery Charities Board at the National Eisteddfod today. Introductions on Lottery funding for Arts, Charities, Heritage, Millennium and Sport were followed by questions from the audience. The Lottery Distributors’ aim was to work together to explain the current programmes and to clarify the application process. It was also an opportunity to reflect on the number of grants awarded in Wales to date and, after the passing of the new Lottery Act, an opportunity to look forward to the new developments planned by the various Distributors.

Tom Jones, Chair of the National Lottery Charities Board in Wales said, "The public’s predicament whilst looking for funding options was our starting point when organising this event. Being the first forum of its kind we expect widespread interest and indeed, if the feedback is positive, it will encourage us as Distributors to cooperate more regularly for the benefit of potential applicants."

The Forum was chaired by Tom Jones and the presentations were by the:

  • Arts Council of Wales which administers the Lottery Arts funding Millennium Festival of Wales
  • Sports Council for Wales which administers the Sportlot Fund
  • Heritage Lottery Fund
  • National Lottery Charities Board
  • The audience included members of the public, representatives for various organisations, the media and MPs.
