West Midlands Regional Awards Committee (RAC)

Each of the nine England regions of the National Lottery Charities Board had a Regional Advisory Panels (RAP), whose role was, as the name suggests, advisory.

The RAP was responsible for advising and making recommendations to the England Committee of the Board concerning the awards of grants within its region. From 1 April 1999 the Charities Board has delegated the decision making powers from the England Committee to Regional Awards Committees (RAC). The RAC set locally based regional priorities and from applications assessed by grant staff, identify those priorities which best meet Board and regional priorities.

The members of the West Midlands RAC are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds who bring knowledge and experience of the region, an awareness of the regions needs and an understanding of the voluntary sector. The membership of the RAC seeks to represent the regions geographical, social and economic diversity and is intended to represent the regions age, gender and cultural background.

The West Midlands is in the process of recruiting new members to the RAC. Biographies of all members of the RAC will be available later in the year.
