Chat Facility

I'm the Eastern Regional Manager of the National Lottery Charities Board. This area covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire,Hertfordshire,Norfolk,Suffolk and Essex plus unitary authority areas of Thurrock, Southend, Peterborough and Luton.

If you live in one of these areas and have any questions or concerns about the work of the NLCB, this is your opportunity to tell us.

During July you can chat on-line to me, and I will answer your questions within two working days.

You may feel aggrieved that your application was not successful and if this is the case, I will try to answer your specific concerns.

Please do take the trouble to chat to me because if you are unhappy I need to know why.

Remember, we:

  • fund organisations which are charitable, benevolent or philanthropic ;
  • give grants of £500 upwards ;
  • don't require match funding.

    The projects we have funded include:

    Pre-schools, playschools, community halls, village halls, services for the homeless, youth projects, health education, advocacy and advice projects, voluntary sector development initiatives, scout groups, guides, training opportunities for the disadvantaged, luncheon clubs for the elderly, computers to help with administration, community transport services, furniture recycling projects, projects for victims of domestic violence, projects working with people with disabilities.

    Naturally some people are disappointed but we do give feedback about our decisions - here is one example:
    Q. The feedback given was that our constitution was deficient, and therefore NLCB couldn't fund us to run the project. But we are a charitable organisation.
    R. Whilst your organisation is charitable, your objects show that it has been set up to work with young children under 5 years. Your application was to run a holiday playscheme for 8-11 year olds. Unfortunately, your constitution does not allow this:
